Christmas Photo Project

This week we annoyingly don't have any workshops or lectures at university (again!). Except for on Monday I had my unit assessment. I got an 2.1 (or a B) which is second best in university standards. I'm happy but surprised as I can't honestly say that I worked that hard. I often didn't go and half did my research and did most of my shoots within week. I thought their standards would be higher. My tutor Matthew also informed me about Thursday. We're going to have celebration in Photo Space for which they're holding a photo competition for the best Christmas Photo with prizes and drinks, followed by going bowling. So because I've been terribly bored I decided to have a go at this Christmas Photo and do a little shoot with one of my house mates in my room. Might as well, there isn't much else to do for me. So on Monday after talking to Matthew I went to the pound shop in the Elephant and Castle's shopping centre and bought some tinsels and a couple of rows of ribbons. I initially wanted to do an abstract nude with a big ribbon on top of my model but the only person who was up for doing it, Sophie, wasn't home in the evening. Instead I did all black. Yesterday I went to uni to rent out a film camera and some lighting equipment and asked Esmeé to help me out with modelling for me. I shot all on film but I also did some digital just in case they don't turn out well. After getting my equipment out of uni I went to a couple of shops and did some food shopping because I really didn't have any food at home. I've taken a liking in cooking actually. I got home yesterday and made a rice dish, mussels and prawns cooked in garlic butter with rice, with a glass of red wine. YUM. Then I drank nearly the whole bottle of my wine and was still only slightly tipsy. Unfortunately I think this means I should really cut down on red wine.. Then I had a long hot bath which was really lovely, because it's getting colder and colder. Couldn't get to sleep, second night in row, twisting and turning in my bed for hours listening to the harsh winter winds outside my window.
Today I got up early, made some breakfast, got ready, read the newspaper and uploaded my digital photos form yesterday. I'll share some of them underneath. But anyway it's a great day, sun is shining and I'm in a great mood, compared to yesterdays apathetic moodyness I had all day long, listening to the Smiths and staring blankly at the grey shade of this city. Today I'm going to into uni get my photos processed and edited, send them to my tutor and then at 5pm I've decided to go to a lecture on fairytales which sounds quite good at my uni. There are so many events and talks hosted by our uni, I feel like I should really take the advantage of them. Tomorrow London College of Fashion are holding a fair near Oxford Circus displaying and selling unique pieces made my their students at affordable prices (well that's what it says, I'm sure I'll go along and realize on how much of a budget I am ).
Here are some photos from this week.

From yesterday.

On Saturday before work I got to work about half hour early so sat next door outside a little cafe and people watched.

A girl outside our house stood like this for about five minutes. Weird.

Haha.

Background TV this morning.

Breakfast this morning. Also I would highly recommend taking vitamins at this time of the year. I have fish oil, multivitamins and C vitamin water every day to help my shitty immune system. And I'm surprisingly not ill. Touch wood.
Till next time,
Cherry x

MONDAY

I've finished most of my homework and have a bit of spare time to write a little post on here.
On Monday's I'm in Trowbridge campus which is only 20 minutes away from my house, so today I woke up just in time and everyone had left the house already. I got myself a coke, turned on my laptop and put on some Nirvana music. Then did the usual morning shite: brush teeth, get dressed, put on makeup, coffee and a cigarette.
So my art class was fine, Barry (our life drawing model) came in as usual, but this time we had to use acrylic paint, which I'm totally not used to because we've been using pencil and chalk mostly. And the last time I used acrylic was GCSE, to drawing this Ladies face. It's quite a big drawing as well, like A2, I think. Anyway, I had my camera in today so I took a photo of my painting, so you can see (unfinished, sadly. I took the photo halfway through, when we had a break). At break me and Cecelia, the Swedish girl, went to the canteen to get tea. We then came back to our art studio, and sat down by the radiator eating clementines and drinking tea, because we were freezing. Yes it is so so very cold outside ^_^
After my art class I went to the learning centre to work on my media coursework, because my photography class was cancelled. I almost finished my contents page for the magazine and the cover is ready. Well I think it is, I'll show it to my teacher tomorrow and see what she says.
After 3 hours of sitting by the computer in Trowbridge I decided to go home. So yeah. I am now home. Hihi, I had some food and I will now carry on reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, because it's great! I'm so glad I finished all my work for tomorrow (:

Random photo of me in the morning.

04 December 2011

Starting with a promise.

I am promising myself that I will post a bit more images on here, as well as write. I would like it to be a photo blog but then the temptation to write...
It is a Sunday morning and I'm just lying in my lovely warm cosy bed (I hope you're all warm and nice otherwise this is kind of horrible if me to say) and writing on the blog, which is obvious. It is so cold and grey outside, I think my bed is now my best friend. I would love to sleep here my whole day but I have a practise storyboard to draw and a magazine cover and contents to plan. Alongside other stuff like researching photographers for my photography and drawing movement. I need to do the movement drawing by tomorrow. I am supposed to go to a busy public place and draw people moving, like hell knows how I'm supposed to do that. I'm figuring out that maybe my subjects are too arty and that all the stuff I have to do is practical and creative (which I love!!!) its just that I feel stupid. It feels like I should be doing maths or economics or business in college, an i am having doubts about this every day and it's stupid I know ,I should just get on with what I'm doing and love it and enjoy myself. But then I think if later on I am going to go to an art school (which I'm planning on) I am going to end up a poor artist living on baked beans and bread.
OK I'll stop about that because I feel like I'm always talking about my education lol, even in real life I'm always asking for opinion.
So yesterday I had a photoshoot with my lovely friend Louise whom I hadn't seen in months. It was so tiring but so fun to do at the same time! She came around my house with a bag of clothes (because it was a fashion shoot ) and I did her makeup. Mind i did it really well, I don't do make up like that-ever. So yearh, I tried to make her look rebellious, dark and cool. Dark eye makeup and everything else black worked, hehe
First we went to the lake near my house, then we stopped by this little place with concrete blocks to sit on. We then stopped by the underground alley (gee I don't know how its called, it's the place under the road people use to get on the other side of the road) and tool some 'rebellious photographs', hihihi giggle. And then we finally got to the isolated and abandoned car park in my area, and I took lots and lots and lots of images. I'll put some of them here, mind they're not edited. I was supposed to have a phooshoot today with Rosie, Elionor and Josie, but I think I'll postpone it.
Alright, I'm gonna stay in bed for a while, reading Harry Potter The goblet of fire and then I have some studying to do.

Here are my boots after walking through a really really muddy park.
