Handful of things

With a handful to do today, I'm slowly getting through my weekend 'to do' list. It has many small things like unblocking my phone (so I can finally ring my mum when I want to) and paying rent, to seeing an exhibition and taking out my essential reading books. Today I went to vintage £1 shopping thing, and it is absolutely great! Except the awful odours of aged clothes, occasional fish scent and the amount of people there with many clothes lying about on the floor you can buy some cool things. They have some mad old fashioned dresses! I came home with a remotely large bag, all for only £9... I was going to visit Nunnery Gallery afterwards, as they are exhibiting amazing Claude Cahun's work there, but the didn't go because of all the shopping I had to carry. Anyway, it's something to do for tomorrow!
This week has been really great, I have done loads of things, but still feel as if I could do even more. I have met up with the group I'm collaborating with this term. The idea that we had come up was good but quite stereotypical, so to my fortunate surprise, on a hungover Thursday afternoon on the bus, I started coming up with lots of ideas. Very excited!!! I have told the group and everyone likes it :)))It's quite complex and could be complicated but it's dooooable and there is six of us so hopefully we can manage and create great art. It's a site installation, with sound, then turned into a short film. It will be made in a forest, and we are all meeting up on Monday to go look for a suitable location which means a great walk though a forest! Ewan has already made a song for it, it's beautiful but a bit too sad and almost funeral-like.
This weekend is a quiet one for me, having basically had my weekend fun mid week! Went out with my house mates on Wednesday, and on Thursday evening went to VOY art collective exhibition ( three girls from our group had work there ). I had such a nice time! We all got drunk at the opening, then had an unofficial after-party in hackney to which everyone went to. We were about thirty art students on the bus, and one of the boys (forgot the nameee) from the collective gave lots of heart warming speeches on the bus. Do watch the video, and if you think he is on ecstasy, you are wrong because he is like this all the time.
My friend Tori dyed my hair on Wednesday! It's nice and violet on the top and pastel blue at the bottom! She made us Norwegian Waffles, we had some ciders and I went home. It was really nice but I bloody hate student halls, a house is so much nicer to live in, so I am glad they rejected me!
I have tons of Olympus Trip 35 expired film photos from spring holidays at home, which I will gradually show you, but I am not that happy with the camera as the pictures are not that good quality.
All the pictures are from my digital camera, which I'm happy to be using more to document events, people and other little things.
OMG! Last night as I was sat in my bed, quite high, watching some crap on my computer, a very  loud crash happened just outside our house! A stolen car crashed into a car parked just underneath my window. God so much crime here, about 6 months ago someone got shot outside our house! F.U.C.K haha, I am waiting for a house robbery....

This is ma room :)

This is my new table... Quite, miniature.

And I'm thinking what has happened to me. I love pink?!

in for ambition

Oh dear I haven't written in a week! Basically I've finished my uni project and all this week there was no uni, so I've been half sat at home bored out of my head and half going and trying to make my day more complete. I went to see Guy Bourdin, one of my favourite photographers in Sommerset House which was amazing. In left the exhibition with a huge sense of inspiration and then filming a little short film on my phone which lead to me following a man. What else have I done... Went to Westfield shopping centre yesterday to buy presents but it was sooooo huge I hated it and didn't buy anything but some body scrubs and lotions. And I'm on  a budget here! Shouldn't be buying body scrubs when I have little money and need to buy presents. I really wish I knew what to get everyone, I'm so uncreative with my presents:( I've also been making collages. And cooking. But anyhow today is a beautiful sunny and bright Saturday and I have work in a little bit (at 5pm till 2/3am), which I'm kind of happy about because it's something to do.
Here's some photos form my phone from the past week.

Here's the collage I made + my finals on Monday morning.

Dalston Superstore Baby

Good evening dears! I have wonderfully wasted my day on the trains. I left when it was light and went to the other side of London to buy a wig for a shoot I have on Monday. But it was closed. I thought it was Friday today so thought it was open. Bugger. It was a great train day though, so so grey, like a nice kind of depressing.
I woke up this morning feeling pretty good, after sleeping 15 hours from the early weekend I had.
Since Tuesday I've managed to get my tattoo finished, overdose on Cocodomol , see my family back home and see my pals Louise and Rose, we went for a coffee in Cardiff on Wednesday which was really cool.  Louise brought down her Lomo photo album which bought back some great memories. The night before that me and Ewan were going to a gig in the Welsh Club and I only  really wanted to see Fallujah the opening band. The later it got the sicker I felt. I left my home for the gig after throwing up twice. It didn't get better, I think the paracetamol in all the tables I took poisoned my stomach. So after seeing Fallujah I was walking back home with Ewan and the lead guitarist from Fallujah(!!!!!) We took him to Justin's house and then they left to see the rest of the bands while I spent my evening in bed. But it doesn't end there. I also managed to miss my bus back to London. I had uni on Thursday which I didn't want to miss so I got the early morning bus. Still, after all my efforts managed to miss university! So instead I went to see an exhibition in Sommerset House on Blondie and the age of punk.

Then later I went to Dalston Superstore with Stephanie because I wanted to get pictures of drag queens. So I put on my wig and dressed up to fit the scene. However there were no drag queens, just a big gay scene. So we ended up partying till morning hours. I met interesting people. A roadie, who lived in LA with Courtney Love for a while and who's slept with multiple members of multiple rock bands. She's married now. And another lesbian by the name Bex who went out with someone from Prodigy. She also spent the whole night flirting with Steff which was hilarious because she's so straight. The guy who's flat we went to went out with M.I.A and said she was boring. So that's all the cool things I got to know about. But anyway, the night was spend doing ballons, splaying spin the bottle and dancing. At the end of the night everyone left I stayed at Roys and we had spliffs and balloons on his balcony wrapped up in blankets to keep the cold away.I took lots of pictures (but some of them are on another film).
I left at 9 in the morning. Got home and went back to Hackney to rescue Steff because she couldn't get home. And then went to uni to get my film processed and scanned in.

I also want to show you photos from Cardiff but they are on my film cameras and the films seem like they're never ending! But anyway my project is due in next Monday so all this week I'm going to be busy bee with doing all my shoots (2 so far, one with a girl who dresses up Drag King and with Candy Vanity) and editing and printing because Monday 10am it all has to be up on the university exhibition space walls. You know I don't even feel nervous, whatever I can do I'll do. This term hasn't gone too well for me due to not attending 100% and just being unsure about how this higher ed
system works. But next term I'll b better and do shoots from the beginning.

These were all the photos I developed on Friday from my film camera. I finally used my lomo splash flash! I've used it here and it literally just enhances that particular colour in your photo which I like because it's not too obvious then.
Till next time,
Cherry.
